Description:

Khodzhaniyazov is a graduate of the Tashkent sports school Chilanzar. During 2012/2013 season, he played for the tolyatin Akademiya Tolyatti. In winter 2012 moved to Zenit Saint Petersburg, signing a contract for 3 years. On 26 July 2013 he made his debut in the first team Zenit in the match of Russian Premier League against Kuban Krasnodar. He has Turkmenistan roots, but decided to play for Russia. At UEFA Under-17 Championship 2013 in Slovakia, he played all five games, was one of the leaders of the team and “Sborna” U-17 became European champion in great style. Unfortunately, at recently terminated FIFA U-17 World Cup Russians were unable to repeat this kind of success and were eliminated already in the Round of 16.

Quotes:

“In my opinion,  Jamal played a great match,  because we`re going to look at everything together.  Let`s see,  he`s a young guy, he`s 17 years old,  and he`s starting for the first team against a strong opponent.  He did make a few mistakes at the very beginning in simple passes,  but he compensated them with two moments when he really saved the team in tough situations,  when he broke up Kuban attacks.  I personally give him the highest possible grade for his game.”

(Luciano Spaletti – Zenit Saint Petersburg manager after Khodzhaniyazov’s first team debut against Kuban Krasnodar)
