Jean-Philippe comes from RC Lens. Since his early years he has been impressive for the youth teams, and has also captained the U-17 squad. He made his first team debut during the 2012/2013 season, on 10th May 2013 in a league fixture against Guingamp. His natural position is in the centre of defence, but this season he has played as a right back and played there very well. Now due to that he is a starting player in the Les Sang et Or team. He’s been a member of the French squad that went to the UEFA Euro U-19 Championship in Lithuania, where Les Bleues went all the way to the final, but lost to Serbia. Jean-Philippe was not a first XI player, however, and only played in 3 games from the bench. It is worth of note that top European teams like Arsenal, Liverpool, Lyon or PSG are interested in him.

“Now I want to win a regular place in the team! I really want to fully participate in the project of return in Ligue 1.”

(Jean-Philippe Gbamin – after signing his first professional contract)
