Rai is the son of former Dutch player and current Sparta Rotterdam technical director – Wiljan Vloet. He joined PSV youth academy in 2005 at the age of 10. Although he didn’t make his debut in the senior team yet, but recently started to play regularly in the Jong PSV team which plays in the Jupiler League, which is the 2nd division below Eredivisie. He made his debut against Den Bosch and this season scored already 4 goals in 14 matches for “Boeren” reserve team. He has been a youth international for a long time and was a member of Netherlands U-17 squad that won the gold medal at UEFA Under-17 Championship 2012 in Slovenia. His second big tournament wasn’t that successful though – at UEFA European U-19 Championships in Lithuania, the Netherlands got knocked out unexpectedly in the group stages. Despite the poor form, Rai managed to score 2 goals and was the best “Oranje” player along with Bilal Basacikoglu.
“Rai can really get far in professional football. But he’s still not there. He still has much to learn and develop”.
