Description:
Zymer Bytyqi was born in Belgium to Kosovan immigrants, but moved to Norway at the age of 2. He moved to Sandnes Ulf ahead of the 2010 season. In 2011 he played several matches for Sandnes Ulf’s reserve team in the Third Division. He also trained with the first team but was ineligible for play in the First Division because of his young age. He finally made his debut when few Sandnes forwards were out with injury – he was included in the squad for the match against Haugesund on 28 May 2012, and made his debut when he came on as a substitute in the 77th minute. This made him the youngest player in the top league of Norway, aged 15 years, 261 days. On 23 August 2012 he signed a three-year contract with Red Bull Salzburg. According to press Sandnes Ulf received about 600,000£ for him. Several months later he was loaned back to Sandnes to play first team football and gain more experience at the senior level. He represented Norway at many youth levels – U-15, U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-19, but he has declared to the Albanian media that since he has an Albanian ethnic background, if he receives a call-up from the Albanian Association of Football, he will give up representing Norway in order to be part of Albania. Despite that few weeks ago on 5th March 2014 he made his senior international debut for Kosovo in their first official game against Haiti – he replaced Ilir Azemi after 57 minutes and this historical match ended up a goalless draw.

“Zymer is the greatest talent I have played with , and I have played with many. Incredibly fun that Zymer comes in and makes his debut. 15 years – it’s actually really crazy.”
