Description:
In recent years the Racing Santander youth academy has produced a number of very talented players, such as Sergio Canales and Jairo Samperio. David Concha is a youngster that might very well follow in the footsteps of his predecessors named here. Born in Santander, he joined Racing de Santander’s youth setup in 2006, aged 10, after a brief period with local club CD Marina Sport. He called up to train with the main squad in December 2013, being also selected for the Copa del Rey match against Sevilla FC. Concha made his first-team debut on 6 December, replacing Javi Barrio in the 0–1 home loss. He made his league debut four days later, again from the bench in a 1–0 home win against UD Logroñés. On 8 January 2014 Concha scored his first goal, netting the last of a 1–1 home draw against UD Almería, also in the Copa de Rey. He finished the season with 13 league appearances, with the “Verdiblancos” returning to Segunda División at first attempt. On 16 May 2014 Concha was called up to Spain under-19 national team for the first time.
Quotes:
“Skillful, and technically gifted has everything it takes to succeed. His versatility allows him to play on the wing, as an attacking midfielder or even as a striker.”
