Description:
Pelle van Amersfoort joined Heerenveen in 2012 from his hometown team ADO’20. The “De Superfriezen” youth academy’s focus is professionalism and development which can be seen today with examples of players such as Daley Sinkgraven, Hakim Ziyech or Luciano Slagveer. Pelle is the next one tipped to be Eredivisie star in the near future. He made his professional debut on 20 September 2014 in a league fixture against Vitesse, in which he replaced Morten Thorsby after 66 minutes in a 1-1 draw. Little by little, he is becoming an increasingly important figure of Dwight Lodeweges squad. He is also a regular Netherlands youth international and currently is a main striker of “Oranje” U-19 setup.
Quotes:
“Comparison’s have been made to former Heerenveen star Bas Dost, and Jan Venegoor of Hesselink, with van Amersfoort certainly a player worth keeping an eye on. There isn’t currently a tall battering ram of a striker in the Netherlands national team, and if van Amersfoort can continue his development then he could fill that void in the future.”
