Description:
Felix Platte joined Schalke 04 youth academy from SC Paderborn 07 in 2012 and was a U17 Western German Champion and Westphalia Cup winner, also doing the same with the U19s a year later. It is worth mentioning that in recent years Schalke’s youth system has produced a number of extremely talented players, such as Julian Draxler, Max Meyer and Leroy Sané. Felix made his Bundesliga debut on 14 February 2015 against Eintracht Frankfurt in a 1-0 away defeat. He replaced Kevin-Prince Boateng after 79 minutes. He then put on an impressive performance, and nearly scored – if it wasn’t for the crossbar – against defending champions Real Madrid in the Champions League knockout stage after coming on early in the first half for injured Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
Quotes:
“I just want to give my all and I hope that I’ll get some playing time. It would obviously be amazing to score in the Bundesliga. I already came close to grabbing a goal in the Champions League last season – unfortunately my effort against Real Madrid was a couple of centimetres too high and it hit the bar.”
