Emiliano Gómez is a product of Defensor Sporting youth academy. He is considered to be one of the most talented players in Uruguay. He made his professional debut for La Viola 14 April 2018 in a league fixture against Liverpool Montevideo. He’s also a regular youth international for Uruguay and represented his country at 2019 South American U-20 Championship and 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup. In 2018, he featured on a list entitled “TOP 60 young talents in world football” by The Guardian.

“Gómez made his professional debut aged 16 and has come through the ranks for club and country with Facundo Milán. The hope – and almost expectation – is that they will become the Luis Suárez and Edinson Cavani of the future. Gómez is not a typical No 9 – he prefers coming into the area from deeper positions and then scoring.”
