The league system in Kosovo is very young but it grows very fast, also in the field of developing young footballers. In recent years, there were a lot of homegrown players who find their way abroad. Ardit Tahiri may be one of them. The 19-year old striker is a product of 2 Korriku youth academy that has produced such players as Jetmir Topalli, Diar Halili, or Erald Krasniqi. In 2020, he signed a contract with FC Besa Peje which was newly promoted to Superliga e Kosoves back then. Besa has one of the best youth systems in Kosovo and Tahiri became a part of an interesting generation including the likes of Redon Syla, Diar Halili, Gentrit Salihu, Festim Haxhiu, or Etnik Brruti. The team was brutally verified and they finished last with 15 points in 36 matchdays but it was also a breakthrough season for Tahiri. He scored 9 goals out of 27 scored overall by Besa, making a name for himself in the domestic league. In summer 2021, he was invited on trial at Swiss second-tier club FC Aarau but he didn’t sign a contract with them. Tahiri moved to Drita Gnjilane, where he proved his worth once again. His debut was impressive – the young striker scored 2 goals after coming on a pitch in the 67th minute. He played in 12 matches and scored 3 goals this season and in my opinion, it’s only a matter of time until he shows his full potential.
Style of play
Tahiri is an ambidextrous forward who mostly plays as an advanced striker but he’s also suitable to play on the wing. Great technique, finishing instinct, he’s dangerous in the air too. He likes to dribble and likes to shoot from distance. Comparable to Andre Silva.
