To improve:

– may still be a little bit chaotic in the final third, needs to work on his composure and final ball

– rather poor ability to operate with his right weaker foot

– tall but doesn’t have the aerial power dominance

Style of play:

– box-to-box midfielder

– player with great body mass ratio, physical strength, natural fitness, and stamina who feels comfortable in contact situations with opposite forwards

– flexible player who can cover multiple positions if needed

– excellent pace, agility, and coordination for a player of his size

– perfect player for a high-intensity and pressing team

– constantly on the move looking for space and always tries to find a vertical option in his game

– his energy and anticipation sense enable him to cover a lot of ground, press opponents, and start attacks after winning back possession

– likes to make effective late runs into the opposite penalty box lurking for a chance to exploit his shooting skills

– possesses powerful mid-range and long-range shooting skills

– in addition to his fantastic motor skills, he’s also skillful, gifted technically, and able to do spectacular things even at top speed

– able to produce powerful and dangerous runs up field on the counterattack

– impacts the game at both the ends of the pitch

– combative, fearless, and good at timing tackles

– courageous, charismatic, and willing to sacrifice

– impressive engine and stamina

Niklas Jensen Wassberg is a son of Roy Wassberg and maternal grandson of Roald Jensen – both former footballers and both SK Brann legends. Niklas joined Brann from FK Fyllingsdalen in 2020. He is a part of a very interesting group of Brann youngsters which includes the likes of Aune Heggebø, David Møller Wolfe, Markus Haaland, Jonas Tviberg Torsvik, Isak Hjorteseth, and Mikal Berg Kvinge. He made his professional debut on 16 May 2021 in the Eliteserien game against Molde. This season, he became an absolute star of Brann and the whole Norwegian second tier. He is also a regular youth international for Norway and currently he’s one of the most interesting talents in the U-19 team.

“He is floating on the pitch. He’s not going down, he’s just floating. He runs, creates, and dribbles. I have never played with such an agile player.”
