To improve:

– strong for his size, but still needs to work hard on his physical development

– quite prolific but his mid/long-range shooting skills and composure in front of goal are still very much improvable

Style of play:

– roaming playmaker/box-to-box midfielder

– player with a diminutive figure and a stocky build

– creative player with good technique on the ball, mobility, acceleration skills, fast direction shifts, short-dribbling, and good short-mid through passing ability

–  all-round and versatile player who can cover multiple positions if needed

– player with a low centre of gravity, good pace, agility, and coordination

– a very interesting mix of a progressive carrier and passer

– constantly on the move looking for space and always tries to find a vertical option in his game

– dynamic and creative at his off-the-ball movements, often roams from position and likes to find the best space to receive the ball with good timings

– likes to make attacking runs through left wing/half-spaces

– above-average creativity and ability to play final ball in the last third

– his energy and anticipation sense enable him to cover a lot of ground, press opponents, and start attacks after winning back possession

– able to produce powerful and dangerous runs up field on the counterattack

– able to make effective late runs into opposite penalty box lurking for a chance to score

– able to dribble, pass, and make quick combinations at top speed

– impacts the game at both ends of the pitch

– combative and tenacious in the defensive phase/pressing

– excellent recovery pace and determination when tracking back

– good direct and indirect set-piece taker

– almost perfectly two-footed

Mihai Toma joined the FCSB youth academy from AS FC Danut Coman in 2020. He is considered to be one of the leaders of a really interesting generation of Romanian players born in 2007 which includes, among others Iustin Doicaru, Alexandru Stoian, David Popa, Robert Petculescu, John Dumitra, and Kevin Taran. Mihai sat on FCSB’s bench two times already and his first-team debut next season seems to be almost certain.
