Luciano González is a product of the Peñarol academy – a superb youth system that produced many interesting players in recent years such as Federico Valverde, Darwin Núñez, Facundo Torres, Diego Rossi, Agustín Álvarez, Santiago Bueno, Facundo Pellistri, and Brian Rodríguez.
