Ibrahim Adel: Scouting Report by Nene Afadzinu

AGE: 22

HEIGHT: 5’7”

WEIGHT: 68 KG

FOOT: RIGHT

CLUB: PYRAMIDS AL AHRAM FC

NATIONALITY: EGYPTIAN

Hardworking left winger capable of playing as striker. Predominantly right footed and but is comfortable with his left foot. Below average height for his position. Slim and mobile. Bags of acceleration and can cover good distances in short times.

Has good ball control and a decent first touch. Does not take on his man often except to create room for a final action such as a shot or a cross, with mixed success. Excellent short to midrange passer and shows the vision and technique to regularly unlock defenses with well-weighted through balls. Does not dwell on the ball and will release it once he spots a teammate in space. Composed in front of goal and gets the ball under control before shooting. Confident in his shot and trusts his technique when in position. Does not get into shooting positions often enough. Very good crosser with either foot but is more productive when using his stronger right foot.

Often plays as the left winger in a 4123. Is more of a playmaker than a finisher, preferring to drop deep to receive possession and progress the play with his passing and ball carrying. Likes to drift into the left half space when his fullback overlaps and attack more centrally. Shows great positioning and awareness in and around the box to often find himself onside and unmarked.

Will fight for every possession he can contest. Makes up for a lack of physical strength with sheer tenacity. Not involved in a lot of aerial duels but does not back down from the few that come his way. Does not win those aerial duels. Uses his acceleration to constantly track back and cover his fullback defensively. Is as relentless as a housefly when pressing, giving his opponent no room to dwell on the ball. Dives into tackles with mixed success.

Often plays the game at a frenetic pace which can result in unforced turnovers. When he does slow down, he slows all the way down to a standstill and just plays the easiest passing option. Shows a good understanding with his fullback. Not the most vocal of players but his intensity can be inspirational to teammates. Generally makes the right decisions in the final third.

He currently has the ability to be a world class player in top leagues such as the English Premier League and the La Liga. Needs to work on his physical strength and be more vocal if he is to fulfill his potential or surpass it. Finding nuance in his tempo on the ball and being more direct 1v1 would also elevate his game to the elite level.
