Description:

Arne Maier joined Hertha from small Ludwigsfelder in 2008. Currently he is considered to be one of the pearls of the Berlin academy and the U-19 team star alongside Florian Baak, Florian Krebs, Enes Akyol, Julius Kade, Pal Dardai, Nikos Zografakis and Muhammed Kiprit. During the 2016/2017 winter break he was invited to take part in the first team training camp. It is expected that he will join the first team on a permanent basis next season. In 2016, he featured on a list entitled “TOP 60 young talent in world football – born in 1999” by The Guardian.

Quotes:

‘A technical and robust central midfielder, Maier has been recognised as one of German football’s most exciting prospects, winning the Fritz Walter bronze medal in August. The 17-year-old overcame a recurrent groin injury that was ultimately traced back to a misalignment of his jaw and is widely rated the most gifted among Hertha’s very strong under-19 squad. Initially a striker who scored 200 goals in one season at youth level, Maier has been described as a “dominant player, who’s incredibly good on the ball and can direct the passage of play,” by the Germany Under-17 coach, Meikel Schönweitz.’
