Willem Geubbels is a product of Olympique Lyon youth academy. He is a very talented forward tipped to follow in the footsteps of other famous ‘Les Gones’ youth graduates such as Nabil Fekir, Karim Benzema, Hatem Ben Arfa, Samuel Umtiti, Maxime Gonalons and Alexandre Lacazette. He made his professional debut at the age of 16 on 23 September 2017 in a league fixture against Dijon becoming the first player born in 2001 to play in Ligue 1. He is a regular player for the French junior national teams, he has represented his country at the U-16, U-17 and U-18 levels. In 2017, he represented his country at the European U-17 Championship, where ‘Les Bleus’ made it to the quarter-final.
