Description:

Alessandro Bastoni’s home team has one of the best youth acadmies in Italy – Atalanta Bergamo. As evidence of the quality of the academy, we can name players who came from it recently such as Roberto Gagliardini, who is already at Inter, as well as Andrea Conti, Mattia Caldara and Alberto Grassi, who will join big clubs very soon. Alessandro was one of the leaders of Atalanta U-17, who won the Italian championship in 2015/16 season. Its squad was full of great talents, like Filippo Melegoni, Alessandro Mallamo, Emmanuel Latte Lath, Christian Capone and Simone Mazzocchi. He was named on the first-team bench for the first time on 30 October 2016, for the game against Genoa, and made his full debut a month later in the Coppa Italia game against Pescara, playing the full game in a 3-0 victory. In Serie A, he remained as an unused substitute for the six games after Genoa until making his debut in a 1-0 win over Sampdoria on 22 January 2017, in which he played the full 90 minutes. He is also a regular Italian youth international, having been capped at the U-15, U-16, U-17, and U-18 levels – he earned over 40 caps already – which is quite impressive for a 17-year old.

Quotes:

‘If he continues to impress as he did tonight, there will be no shortage of suitors for his services and Atalanta’s reputation as the nursery of Italy will continue to grow as they prove yet again that they have the best youth academy in all of Italy.’
