Description:
Dujuan Richards is a product of the Phoenix All Stars Football Academy – an independent youth system that produced the likes of Leon Bailey Romario Williams, and Kyle Butler. Dujuan comes from a sporting family, his father Odile Richards played basketball and did track and field, his uncle O’Neil Richards played cricket for Jamaica and did track and field, and his uncle Nick Richards plays in the NBA. He has participated in youth tournaments across Europe, including but not limited to Belgium, France, and Scotland. In 2021, Whisper toured the UK with Phoenix Academy, where he terrorized the defenses of Manchester City U16, Aston Villa U18, Crystal Palace U18, Leicester City U16, Reading U18, Port Vale U21, and many others. Richards had also gone on trial with Real Sociedad U19 in early 2022, where he continued to prove himself against top foreign talents. In mid to late 2022, he burst onto the schoolboy football scene, and quickly established himself as the most promising highschool talent in all of Jamaica. Winning player of the season in both the Manning and Champions Cup, Dujuan carried Kingston College to the semi-final and final, respectively. Despite not winning any club silverware, his unrivaled performances earned him All-Manning Cup honours, starting in the All Star Match. Whisper received his first senior call-up for Jamaica on the 17th of January 2023.
Quotes:
– “I have said he should and deserves to be there as he has always answered on the field very much like Leon Bailey.”
(Craig Butler, Phoenix Football Academy Owner & Coach)
– “At 17 he is 6’3. So he is big, has a lot of power, speed, agility and technique. So he will be an asset to Jamaica and the greatest honour for me would be to see him playing alongside Leon Bailey, representing our country.”
(Craig Butler, Phoenix Football Academy Owner & Coach)
– “Alex Ferguson once said that if you are good enough, you are old enough. So I am just hoping I am good enough.”
