Ismaël Doukouré joined Valenciennes FC youth academy from his hometown club Lille. On 2 July 2020, he signed his first professional contract with Valenciennes. He made his professional debut in a 0-0 Ligue 2 draw with Sochaux on 17 October 2020. Thanks to his great form, he received a call up to represent France at the 2020 Summer Olympics where he will be the youngest player of the tournament.
