Athletic right back capable of playing as a central defender. Predominantly right footed and rarely uses his left foot, but has shown he has the ability to use it when required. Aggressive in the tackle but has inconsistent timing. Prefers to mark his man tightly instead of defending zonally. Can have momentary lapses of concentration when man-marking. Uses his height to his advantage and is dominant aerially with a great leap and technique making him a threat from set pieces. Has a strong frame and is able to hold off opponents.

Has a great first touch and secure ball control. Equanimous on the ball. Prefers to keep possession with short, safe passes but has shown he has the vision and technique to find teammates with incisive line-breaking passes. Rarely breaks lines with ball carrying. Will take on his man 1v1 occasionally with mixed success. Likes to cross from deep on the right flank into a zone for his teammates to attack. Can be a bit hit-and-miss with his cross accuracy. Capable of delivering with pace and power using his left foot. Rarely gets into shooting positions. Able to get great height and distance on his long throws.

Has played as a right back in a 433, 4312, and a 4141, and as the right sided centre back in a 3421. Makes himself available as a passing option after scanning and calls for the ball. Has shown great spatial awareness when his team is in possession and is able to either hold with on the right wing or underlap effectively in the half space depending on what option his teammate needs. Tends to advance into the same supporting areas on the right even when playing as a centre back. Aggressive closing down out of possession means he can be drawn out and the space behind him exploited. Can provide his teammate with defensive support by doubling up on opponents.
