Marquinhos is a product of Cotia – a famous São Paulo youth academy that produced many superb players in recent years such as Antony, Éder Militão, David Neres, Luan Santos, Morato, Gabriel Sara, Liziero, Rodrigo Nestor, and Tuta. Marquinhos made his professional debut for São Paulo FC on 11 July 2021, coming on as a 78th substitute in the 1-0 Campeonato Brasileiro home win against EC Bahia. He showed himself to a wider crowd in a Copa Libertadores game against Racing Club in which he scored and provided an assist.
