Description:
Dennis Salanović is regarded as the most talented young player in Liechtenstein currently. He joined Atletico Madrid youth academy from FC Schaan in 2014. People in Liechtenstein hope that he can become a legend of the same caliber as Mario Frick – record cap holder and goalscorer for the national team. Salanović played his first international game with the senior national team on 4 September 2014 against Bosnia and Herzegovina, after he came on as a substitute for Philippe Erne in the 63rd minute of that game. At the time of his senior debut for Liechtenstein, rumors were abound that Salanović had chosen to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina over the country of his birth, however, four days later, he appeared in Liechtenstein’s starting 11 for their UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying match against Russia, thus permanently cap-tying him to the principality
Quotes:
“Salanovic has caught the attention of the Bosnian media recently because of transfer rumors involving Atletico Madrid. Salanovic was born to refugee parents in Liechtenstein, where he began his football career. This 17 year old currently plays for the Liechtenstein U17 team, and has been called one of the “fastest” young players in Europe, running 100 meters in less than 13 seconds. He still does not have a Bosnian passport, although he holds dual citizenship for Liechtenstein and Austria.”
