Description:
Joseph Mbong was born in Nigeria, but he moved to Malta when he was just 2 years old. His father, Essien ‘Papa’ Mbong was a former Julius Berger FC [Lagos] midfielder. Joseph is already a part of the senior squad at Hibernians and he was recently given a chance to play in the Europa League first qualifying round against Spartak Trnava, where he replaced Jean Paul Farrugia in the last minute. He was given a Maltese passport recently, which enabled him to play in the UEFA U-17 Championship 2014 for Malta very recently. He played very well, scoring against Holland, and was perhaps the best player of Malta. Currently he plays for the U-19 squad.
Quotes:
“On the pitch, I see myself as a leader and I work very hard for the good of the team. I am strong, a fast dribbler, quite pacy, has good ball control. I need to work hard on shielding the ball from the opponents.”
(Joseph Mbong)
Football Talent Scout potential rating:
