Alan Matturro is considered to be one of the most talented youngsters in Uruguay and the most talented young defender since Ronald Araújo. He is a product of Defensor Sporting academy – a club known for its work with youth which produced many interesting talents in recent years such as Maxi Gómez, Giorgian de Arrascaeta, Mauro Arambarri, Joaquín Piquerez, and Emiliano Gómez. Alan made his first-team debut for Defensor on his 17th birthday in a Segunda División fixture against Uruguay Montevideo FC.
