Amar Abdirahman Ahmed joined AIK Solna youth academy from Brommapojkarna in 2014. He is considered to be one of the most talented teenagers in Sweden. He is a part of an interesting wave of AIK academy players which includes the likes of Bilal Hussein, Erik Ring, Yasin Ayari, Tom Strannegard, Alexander Fesshaie Beraki, and Taha Ayari. He made his professional debut for AIK on 7 December 2021 in a league fixture against Östersunds FK.

‘I have not seen so many Swedish players who have dared to do their thing. It’s starting now, but before Zlatan, there were not many players who were as fun to watch. Now we have, for example, Dejan Kulusevski, Alexander Isak, and Anthony Elanga is coming too. These players dare to do their thing on the field, they have that little extra. I also consider myself a player who has that little extra.’
