Description:

River Plate youth academy is regarded as one of the best in the world. It is especially known for its strikers, such as Javier Saviola, Hernan Crespo, Ariel Ortega, Fernando Cavenaghi or Maxi Lopez. Sebastián Driussi is the next one tipped to shine on the world stage. At Sudamericano U-17 2013 he was a leader and the best goalscorer of victorious Argentina and his sensational overhead kick against Uruguay was definitely one of the best goals of 2013. Soon after, he was in fine form as River Plate won the Under-17 Club World Cup in Madrid, with victories over the likes of Atletico Madrid, Sampdoria and Barcelona. He was the tournament’s leading scorer with three goals. Later on, he participiated in FIFA U-17 World Cup and his 2 goals helped young “Albicelestes” to finish the tournament in 4th place. Thanks to all this he was given a chance to debut in River Plate senior team. That took place on 2nd December 2013 in a league fixture against Argentinos Juniors, in which he was in the starting line up and played 72 minutes.

Quotes:

“He’s a special player, who is very dangerous and very important for the team. Sometimes, you have to be patient with strikers. He is a forward who has the ability to decide games.”
