Nikolaos Vergos is a product of the youth system of Olympiacos and is considered as one of the most talented players of his generation. It is worth to mention that at the age of 12 he was very close to joining FC Barcelona academy, but ultimately went to current Greek champions. He made his professional debut on 25th September 2013, in an Greek Cup match against Fokikos F.C. – he came as a substitute in the 38th minute. On the 19th March 2014, he was also subbed on to replace David Fuster in a Champions League match against giants Manchester United in the Last 16. Four days later, he made also his debut in Superleague Greece – on 23 March 2014, in an away game against Ergotelis as a substitute in the 72th minute. Only three days later on 26 March on an away game against Asteras Tripolis made his second appearance as a substitute in the 60th minute replacing Giannis Maniatis and seconds later on his first touch he managed to score his first goal with a powerful header. He is also a regular Greek youth international – currently he is a member and a key player of Greece U-19 national team.
