Leander played for Roeselare. He was a stand out among his teammates in his group age, so many big clubs in Belgium were interested – Standard Liege, Genk, Club Brugge and Anderlecht. It’s the latter who won the race for his signature; he joined the RSCA youth academy in 2009. During the last Viareggio Cup, Leander was one of the best players and he won the tournament in style. He didn’t get his debut yet in the Jupiler League, but he has already played for the senior Anderlecht team – in a cup match against Eupen, he played 32 minutes. He is elegant, calm and intelligent; he also doesn’t mind playing either as a centre-half or a defensive midfielder, as he is very good at both. He has been a youth international for a long time. Currently he is playing for the U-19 team of “Les Diablotins”, alongside other Belgian starlets, like Siebe Schrijvers or Divock Origi.
“I am delighted that Leander will continue to play football in RSCA. He is a Purple talent, just like Dennis Praet, Romelu Lukaku and Youri Tielemans. He is a prospect for the future. The extension of the contract shows faith in his abilities.”
(Herman Van Holsbeeck – RSC Anderlecht general manager)
